Meet your Inner Temple

One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. — Psalm 27:4

I’ve been meditating on this verse for weeks now. For me, one of my most sacred spiritual practices is meditation.  I meditate on ancient scriptures, problems that need solving, and my gratitude for this present moment.  After going through a difficult season, I have so much more gratitude for the gift of living in this present moment. 

Meditation creates a sacred space for me to focus on what my soul is trying to tell me, and it also has a calming physical effect on my mind and body. Ancient scriptures tell us to meditate on the Word of God day and night. Jesus spent hours praying and meditating on his mission in life.

The phrase ‘to inquire in his temple’ kept whispering to me. Even though I have read this verse many times, Spirit was beckoning for me to come in closer and receive a deeper meaning of what this temple really was.  Because I believe the Word of God is alive and active today, I also believe that we are in an era of awakening to deeper levels of meaning that may tear down old dysfunctional paradigms and release new blessings.

If I believe that my body is a temple, the place that houses the Christ, the Anointed one, then it must also mean that my inner temple is a place to inquire after things. A place where I can come to the altar of my soul and shape my reality in alignment with divine wisdom. It is a place where I can sit with my soul and learn how to express myself by molding my earthly experience in a way that I can take action.

I did a little research (because I’m a total book nerd and couldn’t help myself) and found some amazing descriptions of what it can look like when we inquire in the temple of our soul, our inner temple of expression and beauty for how we are uniquely designed.

It’s been described as a place we go for knowledge gained and doubts solved by meditation in the temple. A place we can search, or seek diligently, to know the mind and will of God.

My favorite description is to search after the knowledge of divine things and to ask for blessings of grace, which we will receive just because we inquired within our inner temple.

Take some time to seek after the beauty of your inner temple as you meditate and ask for the knowledge of divine things that will guide you deeper toward your purpose. Listen to the deep yearnings of your soul that are calling you to an even higher version of yourself.  Awaken to the call of your sacred and savvy soul.
